Well done Heather - following in Laura's footsteps with a 10K title in one of her first senior outings. And a good week for Anna as she tries to rebuild her career.
Congrats to Heather! She follows more closely in Tara Moores footsteps, who won this event last year! The 3 young Brits (Heather, Tara and Laura) all have a 10k now, with Laura and Tara about 200 places higher than Heather but no doubt Heather will be looking to chase them down :)
Little disappointed for Anna who needs the points more, really - but great stuff, Heather! Things are looking good for the next few years, with these 3, plus Naomi B, Joss and Jade all still under 20 and bright prospects. Jade is my personal favourite, I love how she sprints for every ball as if it's the most important one, but let's hope they all reach their potential.
Great stuff from Heather and good to see Anna F back in action, such a natural talent. I remember speaking to Nigel Sears a couple of years ago and he thought she was one of our best hopes among the younger generation for breaking top 100. However she seemed to lose her way, in particular her consistency from back of the court just went, the forehand really breaking down.
Natasha Khan also seemed to be heading for big things at that time but since injury she's not been the same player
Anna has had a big stress facture so thats halted her progress. I do love her game, suits the grass prefectly with the slice serve she has and the pretty nflat groundies.
Well Done Heather, good to see her winning a title.
I'm taking she'll go back into training noiw before playign the canadian and Us open juniors then seniro events in the autumn?
Watson started quite slowly, going 3-0 down with a double break, but fought back to 4 all before giving her serve away and losing the set 6-4. The 2nd was almost the complete opposite, with Watson getting ahead, before giving it away and then breaking to level it up. At 2-1 down in the 3rd Anna had a long injury time out. I didn't see what happened as the men's final had started at this point, but it was something about her foot.
