It's a puzzle to me as well. According to an interview she gave after the Wimbledon Mixed Doubles:

Cavaday has set her sights on qualification for the US Open in August.

She added: Ive got nothing to lose for the rest of the year now.

Ive got no ranking points to defend for the rest of the year now because of my illness last year so anything I pick up now is a bonus.

Ive got a few tournaments coming up now but Im really looking forward to the US Open.

Qualifying for that would be really nice.

The problem is that her ranking is probably not quite good enough to gain acceptance for US Open qualifying, so I would have expected her to play somewhere this week or next to boost her chances - but I haven't spotted her on any list either.

Drama over... She's done a Katie and entered like every tournament in the week beginning 27th of july, either she's been randomly given a QWC or see you at the AO '10 Naomi. I think that's the last week to gain acceptance, so she'd need a win and god to answer her prayers of she was still looking to get into the MD. Not sure though, it could be the week before.

oh good. Well in the words of Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston "There can be miracles when you believe". Come on Naomi! I'm going to the USO and plan to be at qualies so I would love to see her there. :p

The problem is that the Kazakhstan tournaments will not be added to the rankings until Aug 10th, a week after the US Open qualifying cut-off, so Naomi will only be able to improve her outside chance of gaining entry if she makes it into qualifying for one of the Tour events in the next 2 weeks.
