There was an encouraging article about Anna Smith in my local paper she gave an interview about her doubles match with Jade against Georgie & Laura and what it meant to be in the limelight.
"We got a standing ovation at the end and it felt superb. It felt like a once in a lifetime game, but I definitely want more of that."
"This is definitely the highlight of my tennis career so far which sounds strange to say when we have lost," she added. "It was literally a few points here and there that proved to be the difference".
"I'm going off to Sweden next week and I just want to try and play as much tennis as I can. I'm really pleased how Wimbledon has gone and I'd like to keep playing now."
"It is for matches like this that I first started to play tennis," said the British No.10, who trains at Sutton Junior Tennis Centre."We were absolutely gutted not to have won, but we can take a lot of positives."The atmosphere was amazing I think at first the crowd were cheering for Laura and Georgie because they know them from the singles. But as we fought our way back into the match, they were getting behind us and we couldn't have asked for any more.
In the doubles final, Joss Rae & Jade Windley (3) will face Dalila Jakupovic & Sarah-Rebecca Sekulic (SLO/GER) after the former somewhat surprisingly disposed of the top seeds, Anna Fitz-p & Anna Smith, by 6-2 7-6(3) & the latter were handed a walkover by Timea Babos & Naomi Broady, presumably because Babos wanted to concentrate on her singles SF against Joss rather than any kind of injury - at least I hope so.
Am I right in thinking Babos has no ranking yet but she will on Monday (or Monday week) and it will consist of 3 10K wins? (assuming she beats Anna in the final)

Timea will enter the rankings on Monday week with 3 finals but a maximum of 2 wins (she lost to a German girl in Bournemouth). She has a 10-0 record against Brits, which you can extend to 17-0 if you include junior tournaments during the past year. No pressure then Anna

I make it a mere 9-0 in seniors (unless you have already pessimistically counted this afternoon's result ), which would mean 16-0 overall since she lost to Anna Fitzpatrick when she (Timea) was 13 and Anna was 17.

I'm no contender for Johnnylad's 'most optimistic poster' title but even I hadn't written Anna off completely
You're right about the figures - I imagine I counted one of the wins over a GER as a GBR. Time for an eye test
