Ok I'll be the first one to say it. Hope Katie doesn't get gunned down here
Given that the Georgian won a 25K event on clay last week (and reached the final of her previous one on the surface), plus Katie is having to make a quick transition from grass in what I assume is an attempt to garner the few extra points required for US Open direct entry, there's a good chance that the local sub-editors will end up having a field day.
Peter too: Q2: KONTA, Johanna (AUS/GBR) 13 682 lost to KALASHNIKOVA, Oksana (GEO) 8 5-7 3-6
DJ (another punner, sadly missed): Gunned down?
The Hoose: That was a cheap shot.
Peter too: Fired!
And the moral of the story is, if a player's name gives rise to an obvious pun, always assume someone on here has already failed to resist temptation at least once before.

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
Well, so the story goes, when grandfather Mikhail left his newly-designed and fully operational hand-held weapon on the kitchen table one day, Oksana, who was only a child at the time, walked in looking for something to play with. Unaware of the impending catastrophe, Mikhail Kalashnikov was in the garden firing marbles at beer bottles with his slingshot when through the door burst Oksana shouting "Russia 'til i die!". She was only shooting flies but the sight was still an issue, and mistakenly levelled a blow to Mikhail's foot leaving him hospitalised for weeks.
Of course, this news spread like the Red Army and since that day she has been the butt of gun-related humour ever since. We all know the story. It's a bit of an "in-joke" but now you know i'm sure you're relieved
Next up will be Renata Vorácová WR 175 - coincidentally, both Renata and Katie have the same career high of 104, though the Czech made it there back in 2007. Both Anne and Elena have lost to her in the past but Katie is the one Brit who has beaten her, 3 & 2 in the Sutton 25K earlier this year, which Katie went on to win.
Katie needs to win her R2 match for this tournament to figure in her best 16.
If she matches her seeding here ... well let's not even think about it, because if Katie thinks about it, you can be sure she won't get there ...
