Will you do the doubles scoring seagull? I think they start at 3.30 with Josh and Jonny. Eaton, Evans and Smethurst are on after that.

Will be here for another hour so will do dubs updates when received.

Bemelmans had to retire from singles and has pulled out of doubles so Marray/Goodall play Neal Skupski and someone else!

That would be the Dutchman, Paul Moggre.  He & Neal were beaten 2 & 5 by the French pair, Jean-Noël Insausti & Alexandre Renard, in the doubles qualy yesterday.  Good chance for Jonny & Josh! wink

The non-Brit results, in case any of the denizens of MTF are checking on here wink (someone was earlier - he clearly copied & pasted one of seagull's first posts because the misspelling of Sijsling's name was repeated!):

Igor Sijsling (NED) beat Ruben Bemelmans (BEL) 6-7(4) 7-5 rtd

Riccardo Ghedin (ITA) beat Brydan Klein (AUS) 6-0 6-7(5) 6-2 biggrin

The Brit court looks a right treat! 5 matches featuring potential British wins! (and disasters of course)

Decent effort by Smethurst but Lacko probably had too much experience in the end.

Bad day for Hewitt and even though he didn't have a chance of winning, would have hoped for a bit better than just getting two games, but the gap in class between them definately showed in the end.

Decent win for Josh and Jonny in the doubles as well which should set them up nicely for the week.

Good win for Evans, I watched his match against Davydenko, but it was hard to really watch him play as he was always behind in the rallies to a class player so above in standard. So, is he an aggressive player, he did seem to hit the ball hardish off the ground but won points by either an error from Davydenko or just moving him about enough, not hitting the winners. From what i saw, he looks to be a counter puncher, not a passive or attacking player- very like Murray.
He hit quite big serves and looked to have nice touch at the net, when he wasnt being passed. But what would people say his game style is like. He does tend to be very effective against the serve-volleyers, making a lot of returns like today against Marray and Eaton earlier this year.
But saying this, he is still very young and it was a respective scoreline, but does or will he have a big enough game to have an impact on the top 100.

Also a good win for Josh and Jonny, i cant see them not getting to the semi-finals here , as i can imagine them being quite a force, strong serves and solid volleying. The returning does let them down though. Bubka and Stakhovsky will have the better returns in the semi i believe.

BBC weather is predicting rain pretty much all day for the Manchester region, so it's not looking good as far as getting a whole day's play in, and they may struggle to get any play at all.

Or it could be that whoever is getting sent the scores isn't at the computer at the moment (or we have no-one at the event today to relay scores back)
