Ward drops the first set 4-6. I must say, he's proved more resilient, thus far, than I expected when he dropped his second service game! Even came quite close to breaking back near the end of the set!
I can't believe that Klein is not getting a ban. Gasquet gets suspended for something that doesn't affect his tennis/anyone else in this world but Klein gets off by paying 10K Euros.
Slightly OT but he has been suspended for 6 months
Obviously that ban will come down by two months when he completes the racial sensitivity course, so it's only a four month ban.
It doesn't say explicitly in the article who has suspended him though. There's no mention of being a ban given by the ATP or the ITF, and it reads like Tennis Australia has banned him for six months.
Surely though they don't have any real power over banning a player and Klein could carry on playing, but would probably have to cut himself off forever from Tennis Australia (or am I wrong in thinking that a national organisation actually cannot stop players from their own country from playing?)
I actually saw the last set of that match against Klaasen at Eastbourne and there was no indication of any racial abuse in that last set, so it must have happened earlier in the match. The atmosphere around the court was quite tense but I just assumed it was because the match was deep into the third set and it was a huge chance for both of them to qualify for an ATP event.
Good win for the guys.Won't know their opponents until tomorrow, so next match not before Thursday.
Pierre-Ludovic Duclos & Lukas Lacko (CAN/SVK), who had a bit of a battle to get past the Swiss pair, Chiudinelli & Lammer, 6-7(4) 6-3 [10-8]! Match first on Court 2 at 17.30 BST today.

According to this it is the ATP that have given the suspension

So he can still play futures and Grand Slams then, as they are run by the ITF.
Wouldn't be surprised to see him show up in a few futures events as a result of this, and the ban doesn't start until after Manchester, so he'll clearly win the event.
