The head-to-head is 6-2 in our Andy's favour. Andy last beat Rodders 4 & 2 in the Doha final earlier this year, Rodders beat him at Queen's last year, but only thanks to a walkover, &, of course, Andy famously beat Rodders in straight sets on his Wimbledon debut in 2006. I can't help feeling that "Oz Brat" would have made a trickier opponent, had he found a way past Rodders, but Andy's a much better player now than he was then, so I reckon he's going to make it 7-3 on Friday.
Roddick is certainly the wittiest player on tour, check out his interview yesterday.
Here's a couple of his many gems:
Q. Last year after your tough loss, you said it was like watching a Rolling Stone concert from the eighth row when you're used to seeing it from the first row. What row are you in now?
ANDY RODDICK: Getting closer. I can see what Mick Jagger is wearing now.
Q. Who do you think Rick Astley will be rooting for?
ANDY RODDICK: Hardcore journalism. We have a show called 20/20 back home where they ask questions like that. Just hardcore.

Yes, all things being equal, I too think I prefer that it's Roddick rather than "Oz Brat" Of course with injury concerns re Hewiit it might not have turned out equal, but again you feel that he can fight through such stuff and it may actually have distracted Murray. So, all and all, I'm happy enough.
By the way, being boring the 2006 Wimbledon when he beat Roddick in the last 32 was Andy's 2nd Wimbledon. In 2005 he lost in last 32 to Nalbandian after winning two rounds.
But yes, the match up has generally been pretty good and he will get a much bigger number of serves back than Roddick is used to, although to be fair Hewitt is certainly no slouch as a returner. OK some he won't get near
I too like Roddick as a person. He just gets what's important and what isn't in life, and can really be quite funny. I'm pleased to see him looking fitter and seemingly getting back closer to his best. I just hope your run at Wimbledon this year stops here, buddy.
Forecast isn't tremendous for Friday. And in spite of Andy's honest assessment that the roof slowed things down a bit ( which probably didn't suit him ) at least he has now played under it, plus slower conditions aren't likely to suit Roddick either.
I take our Andy to win in 4, rain, shine, roof no roof. Please. Well, actually please win undramatically in 3
I'd have preferred the Oz brat, who I think is more in the Ferrero mould - plays Murray's sort of game, just nowhere near as well, so there's only going to be one winner. I always worry a bit more with the big hitters - if Andy's serve is off and the other guy is serving well, I can see it going against him as he doesn't have time to recover in rallies.

Your maths doesn't measure up to your grammar and spelling, SC! It will be (hopefully) 7-2 on Friday, or (God forbid) 6-3.
I think our Andy can beat either Roddick or Hewitt if the occasion doesn't get to him, and he seems to be dealing with the pressure well so far. I slightly prefer that it has turned out to be Roddick as I think it will be a less tiring match - Hewitt would have him running a lot. With Roddick he will get a rest as the aces are flying past, while when they are not I trust him to take the chances.
After Andy Murray swept aside former world number one Juan Carlos Ferrero in the last eight yesterday
I wanted to let you know that ChannelBee.com have some really interesting Andy Murray footage that we think your readers might like to see.
The tennis ace has revealed that hes actually a big fan of music misfit Lady Gaga. He told Tim Lovejoys channelbee.com that during his pre-match preparation, he likes nothing better than to get into the zone with some choice tunes to give him the advantage over opponents at SW19.

Not wanting to pile the pressure on you SC but his senior Wimbledon Debut was in 2005 when he beat Bastl then Stepanek before losing a 5 setter against Nalby.
Roddick deserves a lot of credit for hanging in when it would have been easy to quit and if his serve is on he is dangerous for sure. I just feel AM has too much for him. I really really hope so.

You should spend some time reading earlier posts, Drew, instead of rushing to think you'd got me by the short & curlies like just about everyone else on here. That's old news. Indiana beat you to it by a full two hours! In my defence, I spend most of my evenings when I get home from work during Wimbledon fortnight watching live tennis rather than messing about on this MB improving my post count by indulging in meaningless point-by-point commentaries, so I started this thread just before I logged off & retired to bed some time after midnight!
Pt by Pt is enjoyed by many as a means of catch-up. Unusually we have live tennis for 2 weeks with needing a sat dish but for the other 50 weeks of the year they are beneficial.
Take the remark with fun as it was intended...I make gaffs all the time (Okay not as much a Jak) I look forward to the banter that follows !!!
I've got to agree with the general consensus that Murray will have too much for Roddick although I can see him losing a set, perhaps, on a tiebreak.
I think the deciding factor will be Murray's serve. The two times that he lost to Roddick (not including the W/O at Queens '08) were the only times that his 1st serve % was less than 50%. Considering that he usually wins around about 80% of points when the first serve goes in against Roddick, you can see why.
I think Wednesday's match against Hewitt will have also taken a lot out of Roddick. He looked pretty drained to me.
You are undoubtably correct that the point by point service that some folk take the trouble to provide is enjoyed and appreciated by many ( some have said so ) including myself as catch up. It's not needed for Andy's matches at Wimbledon and I haven't seen anyone providing it.
FD, for one , has often provided really great point by point posts with even some quite detailed point commentary on a sort of game by game summary. ( some typing speed ) These are great for those that want to look over how a match went, and noone I imagine would think FD does it just to up his post total ( and gawd he could do that with less detail ), he offers so much more to this place as whole. If anyone else does post unecessarily, they are not worth getting fussed over.
mkkreuk, Murray v Haas would be just fine, and although I certainly don't anticipate Haas coming through, I wouldn't totally discount it. However much a Murray v Federer final wopuld be great, the greater thing to me is Murray winning and whatever his record may be against Federer, Wimbledon finals are Roger's great stage, so definately I'd prefer Haas.
Anyway, we better not get ahead of ourselves , Roddick first, all the best Andy M.
