I think he just gets Manchester to earn the points? Could make the cut as it is, too - this year not having points to defend is as good as winning a few rounds in a Futures.
The LTA are totally to be blamed if he doesn't (assuming he hasn't been injured to an extent since Turkey). He has hardly played of late - how can you improve if you're sitting at home? Should have gone to the US for Winnetka and Newport.

He withdrew from Turkey so the injury he picked up there probably cost him a few weeks, and I guess the thinking is that in these weeks where he isn't playing, he is working on his game and improving the stuff that needs work on.
No point in him going to Newport at all because with the way he plays, he wouldn't have had a chance of qualifying, and it would have been a lot of money to spend on the trip.
The thing is, other than Jersey, Evans has actually had a very average year. Since winning the title in Jersey, he's played seven events and won just four matches, three of which were against unranked players and one against a guy with one ranking point, and his performances in the grass court season weren't all that impressive.
And other than Jersey, he's beaten just four players ranked inside the top 400, and two of them were Slabba and Eaton, who have been having a terrible season.
Maybe it is partially the fault of the LTA if he doesn't make it, but take away the one good week in Jersey and Evans has done nothing this year really, and needs to step up his level of performance as the way he is playing recently, it wouldn't be anywhere near a certainty that he'd be able to win matches on the challenger tour.

Probably going to be just too far out to make the cut given that the on-site cuts are always lower than the entry list cuts, and they are going to need five teams above them to withdraw.
A couple more good results at challenger level though and they'll be on the verge of making ATP events though (and along with Auckland and Murray will be battling for the British number two spot)
Hmmm, heres really hoping Eaton makes an impact in Russia, its a great torny selection with such a weak field and it being a nice size challenger, but a round one loss would mean Manchester to Penza,Russia to Ilkley in like a 3-5 day space- A big waste of time and money.
Hi. Could someone give me an update on the condition in Penza? Last that I know - Slabba and Niland are the only main draw entrants out, Coxy is 16 places away from a direct entry.
