Canas wasn't technically a wild card, but even having had an awful year, losing to Diego Junqueira on grass proved to be an impossible task. Junqueira is a perfect example of someone who seems to only be ranked in the top 100 having won a few very poor clay challengers.
I presume some journo somewhere has kept a note of Evans's quote that when he's 25 he won't be accepting wild cards. Have to hope for his sake that it doesn't come back to haunt him if for whatever reason he does need a wild card then.
Ok so its at different locations, but its the same time of the year especially in relation to the grass season and its still a home grass event.
boggo has played this event 6 times, and has 4 rd 1 wins there. not a bad return for a player at his level.
As MJD says, who would actually turn a WC down? lets say boggo had qualified for Wimby and still drawn Berdcyh. he still wouldn't have beaten him. and got a total of 15 rankings points. but he would have missed out on the 32 from Eastbourne.

Why 15? He would have got 25. And let me not go into how much confidence he'd get from this. Plus no one one earth could question his right to be there.
