Evo starts with a double fault and is dominated in the next rally. Finally a first serve lands in, Evo plays a lovely approach shot and Donkey's attempted pass goes wide. 15-30. But a monkey-like drop shot attempt sees Evo drop to 15-40 and a netted back-hand seals his fate.
Hooray. Some first serves! Five in a row in fact. Evo follows up a dodgy volley with a classy one and another good serve secures a comfortable hold. It's as easy as that.
Evans slips to 0-30 after a very long rally, but an ace and a bad Donkey error brings it back to 30-30. Evo nets to concede a bp but at last wins a rally to save it. Come on! Evo dumps another ball in the net but impressive rallying saves the second bp. Dan playing better now and hitting some big forehands but his volleying hasn't been up to scratch - and Davydenko pegs him back to deuce. After an ace, Davydenko gets to deuce for the fourth time, before fashioning a third bp. A big forehand goes wide from Evans and Davydenko breaks.
