Verdasco showed his class to serve that out so easily - never gave Ward a sniff of a chance to even get a return in play.
Not a bad effort from James but took him far too long to get into the match and by then his chance of victory had gone. Should really have broken in the 3rd set which would have given him the chance to serve for him, but hopefully he'll learn from the experience he had at Wimbledon and take it to wherever he goes next and keep the good results coming.
Verdasco on the other hand looked pretty good, although if Mahut does complete this comeback then that will be a real test for him in round two having lost to similar players in the last two weeks.
Ward may be at a career high right now but he a lot to do just to close in on the top 100. Not a good sign really though granted he never stood a chance in this match.
