RE: Wimbledon 1st round: J Goodall vs M Llodra

Josh has to save 7 break points, but takes the set eventually.

We're into a 5th set now!!!

Llodra is 2-6 in five set matches, but did win his last two.

Josh's misses a break point after putting a lob long, but missed two easy backhand passes already in the game.

And Llodra holds for 3-2...Josh has to forget about the chance he missed and concentrate on holding here.

5-4 to Llodra now... Josh cannot afford any let-ups on serve now.

And Josh plays a poor game and Llodra breaks on his first match point.

Shame for Josh having done so well for the majority of the match, but seemed to always play one sloppy service game a set which in the end cost him. And his sloppy game in set 5 happened when serving to stay in the match.

So close, and yet so far for Josh.

That's so sad - Josh and Georgie both played way above their normal level and were beaten by players more experienced at closing out matches right at the end.

We had three favs with the bookies to win their R1 matches - Muzza, Anne and Mel - can Boggo and Elena make up for the two losses?

Great match from Josh. All most people will see is that he lost but to plat that well hopefully can push him on in the second part of the season.

Josh interview - http://www.wimbledon.org/en_GB/news/interviews/2009-06-23/200906231245775164156.html - good answers and he confirms that he's thinking of trying to get into Newport

Watched the match on red button last night and was impressed with the effort and comitment from Josh. He perhaps charged to often to the net and ML passed with ease. He could be criticised as being 1 dimensional but he was never going to stay back trading ground strokes all day.

In the end he failed to hold serve when it really mattered. I Enjoy watching Josh and think he may still have a better ranking within him.

i think what josh has achieved over the grass season may help him believe he has a better ranking to come. what he needs to do is more of what he did at Nottingham, going deep regularly at challenger etc.
