Wimbledon 1st round: J Goodall vs M Llodra

I wanted to make new threads for all the 1st round matches (singles wise) for the Brits at Wimby if thats ok. Just to give them a bit more space rather than trying to find what people said about a certain match in a clogged topic about all of them.
Anyway Josh plays Llodra today on Court 2 later on.

Yosh has a head to head lead over the frenchman when he beat him in the final qualifying round at the US open in 06, 3-6 7-6 7-6. This was when he was playing some of the best tennis of his career :D, lets hope he can replicate that against the frenchman today !

Llodra is a natural serve and volleyer so this could be tough.

They should be on court in the next few minutes. Not expecting Josh to get the win here, but it's not the worst draw for him. It's going to come down to who plays the big points better though.

Josh is on interactive now..

Looks like he has changed racquets, hopefully it will help his game because I can't see him beating Llodra, mainly due to the Frenchman's buckets of experience playing at ATP / Grandslam level.

I picked Josh in the pick'em but either way, whoever wins I've pegged to go out in round 2.

GO JOSH! PROVE ME RIGHT!

Josh!!!

Great returns in that game to get the break and if he can just keep serving well then he's going to get the first set here.

He's playing very well so far.

Saved a couple of break points there but 1-1 in the second set. If he keeps serving and returning well, then this match is here for the taking as Llodra isn't at his best.

May just about to do so if it is finished in straight sets. Won't get any more than three sets in I don't think.

if josh can keep this up, llodra looks like he may lose it.

that's a shame. ml didn't really deserve that set to be honest.

Stunning return from Llodra to get the minibreak and then to serve out of the set.

Josh really could have done with winning that set as Llodra was working his way into the match and going 2-0 up would have been a great way to end the day.

Looks like they are trying to get another set in, which you get the feeling that Josh has to win.
