RE: Week 25 - Futures F2 (15k) - Gausdal, Norway

Very expected results so far. Cox has played Fabrice Martin once, as far as I remember - in the Wrexham Futures of 2006, when he was 15 (those were the days... cry.gif). He won in three sets and reached his first ever quarterfinal, where he lost to Ricky Ghedin in three after suffering a first set bagel.

So a very emotional match for the millions of Coxtards spread across the planet. Will be great if he wins and reaches his first ever final. pray.gif

I think Fab Martin is a very tall guy, remember nothing else.

Cox has a decent shot of claiming the title here...don't recall him ever having won a futures, or even reached a final, so needs to do that soon.

Yeah, it's something that's both disappointing and surprising. He has had the ability to beat top 300 players for quite some time now but can't seem to beat two or three of them in the same tournament.

But to be slightly fairer, he has played very few weak Futures like these.

Great win for Dan and this is a golden chance to claim his first futures title. Should be looking to win it.

Hopefully Dan can become the first British futures winner this year,
as Brits are 0-6 in futures finals!

And that is a stat that is a little bit worrying for the state of British tennis, especially given the amount of titles we won last year (although several of last years champions have moved to challengers more often)

If Cox wins this, he'll have 92 points. That'll get him to somewhere around 500.

Sadly he can't use the SE since there's nothing in Europe on hard next week and there's not much point in moving to clay for a week.

Well done to Dan. smile.gif He'll be on the same points post-Wimby as Eaton now, which would put him in the GB top 10 had he played a couple of tournaments less.

Brits won 13 Futures singles titles last year, so it would be good to break this year's drought!

Awesome, just awesome. It feels safe to say these things in hindsight, but it was Coxy's title to lose the moment Ryderstedt withdrew and McClune lost.

True, the field wasn't the strongest, but no sets dropped at all - about as convincing as it can get. This was long, long overdue...
