Weeks 25-26 - Wimbledon Doubles

Good news about Mel and Jos - definitely an achievement to beat a Grand Slam winning doubles team! Have to say I was much more impressed by both Anna and Jade than I'd expected to be - goodness knows why Anna's had such an awful year; shame they didn't win it. I wasn't much impressed by Naomi in the doubles though, I'm not sure her game's suited to dubs really - both she and Katie were netting a lot of volleys and not playing cleverly at all to my mind. Still love that topspin forehand though! And I much prefer her game to Laura's too, Tutu, but who knows what the future has in store...

Yeah, I agree, but up to 4-0 they were both great but esp. Naomi. I guess they just took their foot off the gas and couldn't get it back.

But yeah, I can't stressed how impressed I was with Mel/Joss, if they play like the y did in set 1, they could beat so many people.

And just wondering, when is the USO qualie cutoff date? Im going to be there and I really want to see Naomi as well as the other brits, I hope she can make it.

Nice to see the all Brit girl match last night. We don't get that very often so a real treat. Well done to Laura and Georgie.

Bally and Amanda have been spared the potential embarrassment of a big court against Vesnina/Azarenka. Unsurprisingly they are losing 0*-4

Rae/South have an outside chance of an upset

Watching Georgie volleying doesn't make me hopeful of the others getting a win...

Robson/Stoop are on BBCI (not on freeview) and on the BBC website.

I would hope for around five games...

Robson/Stoop *1-2

Stoop has put away a few volleys - maybe Wednesday was just a bad day?

Robson drops serve but some excellent play sees them break straight back:

Robson/Stoop *3-4

Massive hold from Georgie after throwing away a 40-0 lead.

The hammering that was predicted didn't materialise and if Laura hadn't been tired it would have been alot tighter. Stoop was absolutely outstanding even showed she could volley. Stoop clearly has the ability to raise her game against the higher class of player but struggles to beat the opponents she should beat. But still very promising for the future.

Much better scoreline that any of us expected from the girls. Well done to them for pushing Kuzzy and Mauresmo so close.

Not bad, not bad. Good that a scratch pairing did this well of course (unless they've played before but no idea...)

I am quite liking the new BBC nickname for Georgie: Stoop Dogg. I'm not sure I'll use it very often but it's amusing all the same!
