i think Alex may have been on a bit of a high after the win and got himself into a muddle in the PC and left himself open to some harder questions. it was so obvius that when he said he had made some mistakes the next question was going to be 'like what?' also he can hardly go out an have a go at the LTA now as they are still helping with his funding etc.
However so much talk about dub's has come as a surprise. thing is i cant see him going to an event to play doubles exclusively, if his ranking is low he will have to enter dubs qualies in some places. so if he is playing dubs then he may as well play singles.

It is a bit shocking to see him talk quite so much about concentrating on doubles. I'm sure he'd be very good at it, and it being on court with someone else on his side of the net might help him mentally too, but the problem is, I'd say top 10-15 in doubles is about equivalent to top 100 in singles, so I'd be very sad to see any Brit who has a chance of making it into the top 100 in singles give it up to play doubles, especially when w have so few singles players even at Challenger level.
However, if he played more doubles and enjoyed some success, it might help him mentally with singles too, so perhaps it would be an idea to try both a bit more often.

I too would be worried if Alex ditched singles in favour of doubles. But it's not as if he regularly goes deep in tournaments at the moment and if he's going to go for ATP qualifying in singles he will need something to keep him busy for the rest of the week... sounds like a sensible package.
