Like I said no chance. Would absolutely love to be proven wrong but Iveta is a class above.
Of course Iveta's wimbledon record is pretty hideous, but her and Katie are very similar in the way they play, only Iveta does it bigger, stronger and better.
Katie needs to play and sustain a level above her normal to win this one. And with what goes on between her ears, I'm really sad to say I can't see it.

I agree Hantuchova will be a great experience for Laura and I think that draw makes it very likely she'll be on a show court.
How's Hantuchova's mind these days ? I know she used to have the ability to self destruct.
I see she tookthe first set v Safina yesterday before losing the next 2 fairly comfortably or at least so the score would indicate.
By the way, I thought Wimbledon would have saved Safina from the no 1 seeding ( can't they theoretically do as they wish on the women's side although they don't often do that much, I see shoved Sharapova up this year ), more as an act of mercy than anything else
Hantuchova isnt a terrible draw. I can see Laura keeping it competitive, which is important. Anne has hit the jackpot, she should comfortably defend her points from last year, and then Chak, who she almost beat in Aus or Lisicki, she could maybe go a round further. I think its a very, very nice draw.
Chakvetadze beat Jankovic at Eastbourne this week so is in a bit of good form on a grass court, so it would be tough for Anne to beat her, especially as she herself is not in the best of form at the moment.
At least she'll defend her points from last year which is the main thing from that I would suspect.
Of the others, Mel has the best chance of getting a win, while Bally and Katie have small chances of winning their matches as well.
Can't really complain about that, can we? Really hope Bally can get the win, will doubtless be pretty tough - though Bondarenko just lost to Schiavone on grass at Ordina, which might bode well, and she lost in straights to Erakovic at Birmingham last year...not sure what that suggests! If Mel can't win that, well, she's not going to get a much better draw on her favourite surface...
I'm interested in seeing the Georgie-Vera match, just to see where she is right now. Vera's just coming back from injury though so it's possible it could be closer than expected. She did lose last week at Eastbourne.
WE SHALL SEE!
Anne and Mel ftw! Bally's got a tough one but I've got my fingers crossed for that one Granted Benesova's a tough prospect but on grass, again it might not be too bad. Again, WE SHALL SEE!
The bookies make the Brits' chances of winning a match:
Anne 78% Mel 64% Katie 35% Elena 29% Laura 20% Georgie 7%
That works out to a 97% chance of at least one winner, an 88% chance of at least one winner other than Anne and a 66% chance of at least one winner other than Anne or Mel.

Lol, they underestimate bally against a player who just isn't great on grass. She did play a great match vs Mel last year tho, because Mel was playing GREAT herself.
And btw welcome back to the top 250 to Naomi! In at 249. When is the USO cutoff? She will need to rise about 25 places to get in there.

How pleasing to see that the new hard-headed, mathematical, rational approach (the "Ratty Factor"?) is now supplanting the usual mixture of sentimental optmism, inevitably followed by desolation and despair ...
But in the meantime, as a PS - Come on Boggo, you know you want to stick it to John Lloyd!!!

I'd put Katie at 40% and Bally somewhere similar actually. Can't really complain about ther others.
I'm excited to get to see Georgie play again. She better be on TV now. I haven't see her play live since wrexham 10k in 2004/5, i saw so much potential there, huge forehand. I hope she gives a good account of herself.
