I agree with Count, hes defending champion so has earned the right to do what he wants since its obvious he wouldnt pull out due to personal choice. Thankfully Murray and Fed are on opposite sides which would have been the same result had he withdrawn beforehand!
The sad thing is that we probably all expected the coverage to be a bit like this... last year they had started doing the draw before the started the radio coverage so we joined it mid-draw, so to avoid that, they've removed the radio all together.
It's stuff like this that re-affirm my opinion that compared to the rest of the slams, Wimbledon is a poor relative.
Between the draw and the release of Monday's OoP - the no. 5 seed, i.e. Potty, would take Rafa's place, the no. 17 seed would take Potty's place and the no. 33 seed (i.e. highest-ranked unseeded player as at the seeding date) would take the no. 17 seed's place.
After the release of Monday's OoP - a lucky loser would take Rafa's place.
However, if Rafa withdrew by Saturday morning (i.e. more than 48 hours before the tournament is due to start) and another one of the players who was a top 8 seed at the time the draw was made withdrew between the time of the draw and 48 hours before the start of play as well, the tournament could choose to remake the draw (which I am pretty sure means call it null and void and do it again) or let the draw stand as it saw fit.
