Nice revenge for Sarah and Anne. Hopefully it will help Anne in her singles, as she had never won a match here in the singles or doubles main draw before today. Tomorrow's oop;
Zvonareva pulled out. Should Anne beat Bammer, which is the expected result, she would only have to play AMG or MJSM who are both far better on the clay, but Sanchez is the better of the two IMO. The match has just gone to a 3rd set.

Don't get ahead of yourself, and in any case MJMS is better on grasscourts. She is a serve and volleyer (and a cheater).

Sadly Anne's record in Tour level grasscourt tournaments, especially at Eastbourne, remains below that on other surfaces, which is not what we want from our top-ranked player. Bally on the other hand appears to have given a good account of herself again. At the moment she appears to be the more likely to inspire others at Wimbledon.
Only saw the last game from Baltacha today of her match... she made three easy forehand errors and then Na Li hit a forehand down the line for the winner. She kept it competitive though it seemed from the scoreline.
I still am amazed at how high Keothavong is ranked. Having watched her today, if someone asked me to name the strength in her game, I'd struggle to give an answer. I'd guess the forehand is the shot that is her better one and she does hit some nice drop shots, but other than that she couldn't going today.
Bammer wasn't much better and I left the match midway through the second set because it was just so painful to watch both of them make error after error. It was disappointing from Anne as I'm sure she must be better than this, but every time I see her play, she produces a disappointing performance.
Yeah these losses are disappointing but wow some of you guys are harsh. Watching Anne in Warsaw was incredible. She's patchy but so are most non-top 20 players

Exactly. I guess the person in that other thread is right, grass is simply her worst surface, she definatly likes medium to high bounces, esp. with her forehand grip and everything so its understandable that she would litter errors, she hasnt been playing great these last few tournaments and that is understandable considering she got double bageled the other day and took it hard, maybe she just hasn't recovered from that. Hopefully she can get it going at wimbledon like last year but SERIOUSLY, you guys are way too hard. Anne has MORE than proved that shes worthy of this ranking over the last 12 months and an even higher rank if she can become a bit more consistent. Wow.
And yes, Warsaw was really great. Even the SF which was a GREAT match, so many rallies there and for most of the match, seriously, ABond was playing like a top 10 player, and Anne was still right there with her.
And I can't wait to see her on the fast hard courts, that really is peak Anne.

Sarah & Anne are on court in the QF against Amanmuradova & Sugiyama and they saved four break points in the first game but wasted one themselves in the next game.
