Queens QF - Andy v Mardy Fish

Yet again, Andy is second on the Centre Court.

The two have met 3 times, with Mardy winning the first back in 2005, and Andy winning twice in 2006.  All of them were on hard court.

Should be a harder match than the first two, albeit likely to be very different as Mardy usually plays aggressively and is good at the net. Still, unless Andy has a very bad day at the office. . .

I do think there is a gulf in class here even though yes he's higher ranked than the previous two.

On a good day for Fish and a bit rusty one for Andy I could see 2 tight sets, but I'm going to go for 6-3, 6-2.  Put on a show, Andy !

Well they could put the doubles final first.

Fish is a better player than some people give him credit for, and I reckon he could trouble Andy in at least one of the sets.

Given how fast the courts have been playing at Queens this week and the fact Fish is having a good week, I'd expect Fish to be able to push Murray, but I don't think he'll have enough to beat him.

Fish has a big serve so if he does serve well, Murray's going to do well to any better than one break in each set, but I think he'll probably be able to do that. He just has to be careful to avoid any poor service games because it's going to be a lot harder to break Fish than it has been Seppi or GGL.

Murray to win something like 7-6, 6-4 though.

Superb backhand pass crosscourt to win the first point, Fish careless forehand long for 0-30, super forehand crosscourt pass for 0-40, then Mardy saves 2 bps, the second with a brilliant 2nd serve before a poor forehand volley into the net costs Fish the break of serve.

Both players struggling to return the first serve with unreturned serves dominating most service games. Mardy more vulnerable when he relies on a 2nd serve.
