I think Mel has proved to herself that she can get into the top 100 whenever she wants to simply by winning a few more $25Ks, after all 16 $25K titles would take a player into the top 80.
Mel's ranking's going to be well down unless she can get something from Wimbledon; the trouble is that the top 100 bar is quickly rising, with 98th place now nearing 700 pts. In fact, even a Wimbledon win wouldn't put her top 100 at present. It's all looking a bit like slipping away, given that her ranking was in any case largely based on the weak Aussie 25ks. I hope she can pull it back!

Encouraging performance by Bally to stay with such a strong opponent. I expected Mel to be hammered, as Zheng is an excellent returner, takes the ball early and would test Mel's movement, which has never been the strongest part of her game. Disappointing though that Naomi wasn't able to be more competitive.
