Great day for the British girls. Just watched the doubles qualifying:

Brengle/Stoop def Clarke/Moore 7-6(7), 2-6, [11-9]

There were a few great points in the doubles but overall pretty unimpressive, particularly from Brengle who really made a lot of basic errors, will definitely need to improve in the main draw. Jade Curtis played a brilliant match from what I saw, but I left to watch Naomi when Jade was leading 4-2 in the second, but at least she recovered excellently from losing that second set lead by steamrolling the third set. Naomi was striking the ball really well and was 6-0, 4-0 up before it got a little sloppy and Boffa brought it back to 4-4 then Naomi broke again to take it. Not sure what was going on with Danilidou in the first set, Tara really didn't need to do much to get ahead but still a great win nevertheless.

Best of luck tomorrow girls

Nice to hear from someone who was there, Tom - how was Naomi looking fitness-wise? I really don't want her to be subject to the kind of criticisms she's had the last couple of years, it must be so hurtful. Would be interested to hear more about Jade's style of play too...

By gum whats happened to Danillidou of late? Wasn't she a top 20 player not long ago?

You know i have a feeling that Baltacha can suprise here and lift the trophy-would she be on the brink of the top 100 if she does??

I thought Naomi looked in pretty decent shape but more importantly she was playing good tennis especially in the first set. Here's a couple of photographs:

<a href="https://s85.photobucket.com/albums/k53/wimbledontom/?action=view&current=IMG_0974.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k53/wimbledontom/IMG_0974.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I'm not very good at analysing players games/technique but Jade seemed stronger off her backhand side than her forehand and she constructed some very clever points and gave very little away to Grandin. I'll be there all week so if there's anything anybody wants me to find out etc just let me know on here.smile

Ohh awesome, are u a student at Nottingham? If you could, just let me know how any of the Brits you watch are doing, that would great! Do any of them look capable of a win at Wimb?

Im particularly interested in Katie, Mel and Bally, being our top 3 players (excluding Anne) so any feedback wud be great, thanks for the photos, and I hope you have a great time! more importantly though, dont forget to cheer the Brits on! Especially Mel, who really feeds off the crowd!

Thanks Tom, yes Naomi does look pretty svelte there, hopefully that'll keep the press at bay!

Yeh she looks good, I hope her raquet does the talking for her though, the press will have nothing on her if she makes a win or, dare I say, two :)

Bet365 do live scores for the main court. Mel is Up v Elliot 6-0 5-3 40-0

She likes her bagels, and since 3-3 she has really dominated.

Good effort from Mandy in the second but did just Mel take the foot off the gas?
I wonder where Bet 365 get there live updates from ? I really expect Tara to get a set . Is Ditty any good on grass?

Ditty isnt that great on grass, but Tara cant make any impact on her serves so I imagine she is serving very flat and hard... I quite fancy an upset tho.
