I can't accept that Cav is so much better than Katie on grass. It is either Katie's current injury or a dip in form which started in the 1st round at the french triggered by her mental fragility when she gets close to the elusive top 100 spot. Katie is good on grass and Cav is still on the comeback trail. Even the bookies I noticed had Katie as the favourite in this match.
Thanks, for the reports Tom, much better than my weak efforts the other day.
I did expect Naomi to win but not by that convincing a margin. There seemed no problem with Katie's ankle yesterday so that is not an issue. I don't think mental fragility is an issue as she was seemingly never in the match, but I do accept that Katie does not seem in the best of form at the minute, but not being in good form is not really an excuse.

Unfortunately you're gonna have to accept it. Katie is not good on grass, she's alright, but she's way better on hardcourts and indoors.
Katie was only the favourite because it was a low level tournament so the bookies went on nothing but ranking.
I don't see how anyone could possibly of thought Katie would of won this match - I really can't. Sorry if that sounds rude but its true.
The result was nothing to do with form or injury, Cav is just much better on this surface, and, in all honesty, is the all-round the better player.
If you are gonna blame every Katie loss on injury or loss in form you are gonna have a rather horrendous time following her. Trust me, sometimes you have to accept the facts
Katie would also have needed to reach the final to make the top 100, so on historic form, she would of gone out in the semis if the 'mental fragility' point had been the case.

Agreed, and its not even that Katie is bad or anything, its just simply that Naomi could be so good if she got her game together and got fit which is what she seems to be doing now. I look at the top 100 and I dont see anyone with a even remotely similar game to Naomis. I hope she can start to realise her potential now because shes such a beautiful ball striker.

If Cav reaches the final I will accept that she is the better grass court player but Katie was struggling with a minor injury leading up to this event.
From a personal perspective, as someone who plays a lot more than I watch, and who has rarely had the chance to play on grass, I guess I find it harder to appreciate the differences between hard and grasscourt players. Concrete all the way for me! Having only seen Naomi on grass though, I absolutely love her style of play, especially the way she sometimes seems to dig her crosscourt forehands out from behind her in a kind of cricket-style shot (if you know what I mean...). She makes it look so natural - which I suppose it is...
