won 7-6 6-4 not as straight forward as it should have been but a win is a win.

Katie apparently won 64/76 - closer that the rankings would suggest, but Weidemann is clearly in good form - hopefully suggests Katie's injury's cleared up though. 6 out of 16 in R2 looks pretty tidy from where I'm sitting - though all will have tough matches next. You'd expect Mel to win really, but I'm doubtful as to whether Katie will beat Naomi - that'll be really interesting...Hope Jade gets to test herself against Wickmayer - that should be a good indicator of how far she's come; Georgie took her to 3 in Feb, so could be closer than we'd imagine.

And now has a good chance on paper of progressing to the QFs:  doesn't look as though this has already been reported, so I'll flag up the fact that the Russian second seed, Alla Kudryavtseva (WR 75), was beaten 6-2 2-6 3-6 today by the South African with the silly first name, Chanelle Scheepers (WR 149 compared with Bally's 126). biggrin  Mind you, that may make her dangerous... please.gif not...
