I'm pretty sure they lady with the long surname I am currently watching being crushed by Safina defended her AO title once and tried to do it for a third time but failed.
No 1991 boys will be given WC for any event over the period of Roehampton and Wimbledon, that is the word coming from the NTC. Shame really as I can think of 2 rather good fast court players who could push on to US Open.
Wolf is quite right that Pavlyuchenkova won it in 2006, defended in 2007 and tried but failed in 2008 (Arantxa Rus winning as Mervatron says). The fact she had tried to defend it twice had completely passed me by. Laura risks some flak from certain quarters of the press though if she doesn't win Wimbledon again - but I suppose she will have to get use to that in the future anyway.

Interesting - I didn't expect anyone outside top 100 to be awarded one, but any of the top 3 could still make US Open Juniors. Nevertheless leaving them in the Wimbledon Qualies frees up more WCs to split between the top 1992s and 1993s. Also if any do qualify it should help their chances in the main draw. In terms of which 1992s and 1993s pick up main draw WCs I imagine some will be decided by an internal play-off.
