And it's over. Jesus wept, I almost want Katie to lose 0 and 0 after that.
All the worse because if you'd said a month or two ago that Mel would be 2 points from the 2nd round here we'd've snapped it up. She'll be lucky to get a GS draw like that again in a hurry.

And Larcher de Cheato wins 0-6 7-6(5) 7-5. It takes sheer British grit to win 3 more games and 6 more points than your opponent and still lose. doh

Sadly, this is probably going to be even tougher to take mentally than Anne's loss, I would have thought.

33 break points in that match. Which doesn't sound so bad when you consider there were 31 games! Mel won more points in total, and more winners. Hope this doesn't knock her confidence overmuch - though obviously she needs to be critical of herself for this too.

Well Anne can easily chalk her loss up to a bad day on her least favourite surface when playing against the #1 player in teh world on a very good day.

Mel will have to chalk her loss up to an erm... well... yes... erm... being british?

It will be interesting to hear Mel's account of what it is like playing Larcher de Brito. The combination of the noise plus switching from useless to brilliant must take some adjusting to.

I think we should all go away now. Or at least get a strong cup of tea.
Mind you, Katie may surprise us all...

Yep, think I'll forgot about today and just bask in the glory of yesterday where we had a british winner in the tennis, a british winner in the F1, a british winner in the golf and a british winner in the cricket.
