The British press rigorously defends its independence and freedom to hold individuals and organisations to account and rightly so. But it's time they held themselves to account for the undeserved damage they've done to Jo, her public image and to the sport in general, as reflected in those Daily Mail and Telegraph reader comments. Would you want YOUR daughter to face the public abuse and humiliation Jo has received?
One thing- it mentions mucking around with Dan. Telegraph identifies Dan as Evo. The Mail as Smethurst. Id love it was Evo, suspect Mail had it correct though ?
On a lighter note, my jaw dropped to the floor with disbelief when Briggs mentioned Jo was "mucking about with Dan [Evans]"!!!! I guess that was likely the other Dan [Smethurst]? It would be great though to see Jo partner Joe. Thought Jo and Cam made a good team at the BOTB and of course, Jo had her first ever main draw win at the FO partnering Dom Inglot.
I wish Jo the best of luck, whatever her future brings. I've been fortunate to watch most of her matches on TV since she entered the top 50 and to see her live at the Copper Box. That was probably the best crowd response she has had anywhere. Jo has always been a great watch but it's not over yet so enjoy it while it lasts.

Snap!! You just got it first.
I think the disbelief of jo and Evo mucking around led to my speedy response !

The Briggs article, surprisingly, is not behind a paywall.
Interesting assessment of three "big names" on the men's side:
Even if she had an underwhelming 2020 at the slams - winning only one match where last year's tally was 14 - Konta remains the only British singles player who arrives at these tournaments with a chance of winning them. Andy Murray is too impeded by his metal hip. Dan Evans is too underpowered by the standards of the big boys. And although Kyle Edmund made a thrilling run to the Australian Open semi-finals in 2018, he has not reached a fourth round at any major since.

I linked to that already above?
Any way, what he says about the men is not untrue.
