No, I haven't been able to check 89, 90 and 91 (ITF still playing up), I just went on to the WTA site and checked the most likely suspects, but they mainly got DAs. The last Brit to qualify properly was probably someone I've forgotten. Definitely at least 17 years though.

I've looked at all the drawsheets going backwards on Wikipedia, and the first time I came across a British qualifier was Kate Brasher in 1983.
Two women in round 2 is the best since 2003 (Anne plus Julie Pullin). Pleased to see that Bally has at last broken her Paris hoodoo.
I wonder if there have been any players who've been so abysmal at serving that they've relied solely on return games and still made a decent career for themselves. After all, you only have to hold twice to win a match in theory (or not at all if you're good at tiebreaks). Just pondering...
