RE: RG Q draw

sorry for the awful format above ashamed

dont know much about DeHeart, had never heard of him. i am sure Steven can put his great intellect to use to come up with some puns tho, he has won some futures and challenger matches on clay tho and boggo is not in form so it not looking good there, but who knows, certainly a chance for boggo to extend hsi always win the 1st rd lose at 2nd rd record here.

tough for Josh too, Delic to start than either a top seed or volandri. ouch. dont know if delic can play in clay, butm i doubt he's going to be worse than one of our lads.

not looking good i think.

i think Boggo has a chance at winning two rounds here, Devvarman aint a claycourter

...but as for Marcos Daniel, a 3rd seeded Brazilian? good luck Boggo!

delic qualified for Rome in 2007...he took sets off Ferrero and Safin on clay that year

Week 20 - Roland Garros Qualifying

I agree, horrific draws bleh - though I suppose if they haven't got seeds in R1, we shouldn't complain too much!

QR1: Alex Bogdanovic WR 198 v Ryler de Heart (USA) WR 274 (CH: 208 - Sep 08)

Seeds in section: (26) Somdev Devvarman (IND) WR 138 or (3) Marcos Daniel (BRA) WR 96

Wardy took a set off the American on hard courts twice last year and Jamie Baker beat him 4 & 4 in  Nov 2007, revenge for a loss in the Calabasas Challenger a month earlier. He plays about 3 times per year on clay and this year on the surface, he has reached the SF of a Future, the QF in Savannah (lost to Michael Russell 2 & 0) and went on in R1 in Sarasota to Burzi who got thrashed by Russell who got beaten by Yani who got beaten by James.

If Boggo was on form, I'd fancy him to get through this one, even on clay, but will the current Boggo have de heart for the fight? No chance of him getting through more than one round, I'd say (ditto for Josh) but winning a round is worth a few points here so it's worth doing.

QR1: Josh Goodall WR 219 v Amer Delic (USA) WR 156 (CH: 60 - Jul 07)

Seeds in section: (12) Michael Berrer (GER) WR 116 (playing Volandri in QR1) and (29) Jesse Huta Galung (NED) WR 144

Delic beat Hrbaty on clay last week and beat Bloomers 4 & 2 in Baton Rouge last year but lost to Boggo in IW Q in 2007.

Ok Josh's draw is pretty bad with Delic and then probably Volandri but there's nothing wrong with Boggo's draw. If he thinks that is a bad draw then he shouldn't bother turning up to be honest as DeHeart should be beatable and Somdev is not much of a clay courter and has been in pretty poor form of late. Ok so there's no way he will beat Daniel in the FQR if he gets there but other than that there is no cause for complaint.

Clay is Somdev's favourite surface and he has had decent decent results on it in the past (like losing 5-7 to Almagro in the third set). But he is in horrible form this year. cry.gif

Sure! :D

Tough draws, but they are probably here just to get the First round cheque anyway. The number of clay tournaments they've played in the last few weeks tells us how confident they are of this campaign...

Will the 2008 prize money do?

For Roland Garros, it was $ 2000 for losing in the first round, $ 3750 in the second and $ 7500 in the third.

I agree with Wolf - Boggo should be delighted to draw an American with no track record on red clay. Josh was never likely to progress here anyway.
