After a spell of playing in Futures events James Marsalek, Jack Carpenter and Tom Farquharson are in Milan, trying to qualify for one of the top junior events outside of Grand Slams. Jack was an early casualty, but James and Tom have reached final qualifying for an event which has never seen a British winner (in the boys' event at least). Both are up against players ranked just inside the top 100, but neither opponent has much of a track record on clay.

(2) David Sofaer (AUS) v (9) James Marsalek (GBR) (3) Sudanwa Sitaram (IND) v (13) Tom Farquharson (GBR)
Yes, it is a bad draw for James if Reuter is fit (he retired from his last match), but Ahmed has a decent draw against a top 50 player with no great pedigree on clay.
Ahmed has also turned up in the doubles with Egyptian #26 Maamoun but they've drawn the top seeds Huang/Scholtz in the first round. No word yet on his singles result.
