L16: (Q) Morgan Phillips WR 1260 beat (8) Cristian Villagran (ARG) WR 381 by 7-6(5) 7-6(5)
QF: (Q) Morgan Phillips WR 1260 v (2) Juan-Martin Aranguren (ARG) WR 317
Aranguren hit a CH of 231 in June last year and has reached three Futures semis and two more QFs so far this year. He beat Matthew Hanlin in three sets in 2004 and lost to Alan Mackin in three sets in Umag ATP qualifying in 2005, so is 1-1 v Brits. He tends to go on long runs of success and then long losing streaks an is unfortunately on one of the former at the moment, but he started a losing streak of 8 matches around the same time last year.

Great win for Morgan again, and he's definately playing like a top 500 player this season. He just needs to have a couple of good weeks where he gets lots of points under his belt to enable him to rise up the rankings.
Hopefully he won't be too far away from not needing to qualify for any more futures which should give him a chance to get more points.
QF: (Q) Morgan Phillips WR 1260 beat (2) Juan-Martin Aranguren (ARG) WR 317 by 4 & 2
SF: (Q) Morgan Phillips WR 1260 v (5) Walter Trusendi (ITA) WR 365
Trusendi has a 2-1 record against Brits, beating Mark Rapa and Tom Rushby but losing to Guy Thomas, all in Italian Satellites in 2002/3, so that doesn't tell us much. His thrashing of no. 3 seed Luca Vanni today and the fact that he's only lost 5 games so far this week looks rather ominous though.

In footie parlance, "the boy dun good". I'm so pleased for him, it looks as though he's getting back to the form he was in before his injury. Not impossible for him to reach the final, so. Play isn't starting until the afternoon tomorow. Go for it Morgan.

I'll second all those sentiments! Keep it up, Morgan. Best of luck tomorrow.
jm - There is certainly a chance of him getting in the mix for a quali WC...most likely through the 'playoff' system (Assuming it is running this year)
If he were to get one it would have to be better than last year!
Even better win by Morgan than yesterday, and this is the week where everything has just clicked for him. This should be enough to get him back into the top 1000, and if he can repeat this form throughout the year, he'll have no trouble getting to the top 500 where he belongs.
