RE: Week 20 - Challenger ($35,000+H) - Fergana, Uzbekistan

Would hope that chris could carry on his impressive run of form and really kick on and try and get in the swing of things before his wimby points come off

Chris is 1st on court 5 tomorrow at 11 am local time. The second seed Snobel was knocked out today.

Another good draw for Chris, as he's got a qualifier in the first round for the second week in a row.

If he wins that, he'll face either another qualifier or 2nd seed Pavel Snobel in round two.

The tennis gods must have been smiling on Chris today:  Snobel ain't gonna be a problem, having been beaten 6-1 3-6 5-7 by the Russian qualifier, Evgeny Kirillov! biggrin  The sixth & seventh seeds, Kravchuk & Capkovic, are also out, as is "Flopsy Bunny", beaten 4-6 6-1 6-7(?) by the Uzbek WC, Inoyatov! biggrin

Chris could perhaps 'Do a Ward' and win this and help his Wimby WC chances ? Fingers crossed.

Oh my, that's poor. doh

Still, it does seem a bit suspect that there have been quite so many shocks today.

Edit: checking the actual drawsheet, most of the shocks seem to have been in Chris's quarter, so I doubt it's the fault of the courts unless all the matches in that quarter were scheduled for the same court and it was a dodgy one.

if they were did the dodgyness of the court only follow chris and the other match-favourites around?

I am reminded of IMO one of the greatest ever sports from kim clijsters a couple of years ago:

"It was raining on both sides of the court."

Think this should be applied to all matches before excuses are sought (and we are all guilty of that when it comes to our faves!)

That's an awful result for Chris and with it goes any chance of anyone being able to argue for a WC for Wimbledon for him.

Although the fact the draw had opened up for him meant that if he was to remain a true Brit, he did have to crash out here.

Eaton is a serve vollley player on grass nothing more nothing less!
Does not deserve WC for Wimbledon but will probally qualify!
But he has to prove he can play on other surfaces!
