Girls: "Citta' Di Santa Croce", Italy - Grade 1 (week 19)

Heather Watson returns to Junior action for the first time since the Australian Open as top seed. The tournament is a very good one to win, as it offers a wildcard to a 50K event for the winner. Last year Johanna Konta defeated Laura Robson in the final, and went on to win a match in the 50K as well.

According to Channel Television: "Her prospects have been boosted by the presence of her LTA coach Andrew Fisher, who is travelling with Heather to all her European events this summer. This has been made possible thanks to an increase in sponsorship funding for the Watson family from local firm Sportingbet.
The company has committed £75,000 over the next two years to help her bid to make a successful transition into the senior ranks, bringing its sponsorship of the family to £100,000.
Father Ian Watson told channelonline having a coach with her will make a big difference.
At the top level the difference between winning and losing is often just a handful of points in a match, which can simply come down to having the right preparation. Until now that is something that Heather has lacked. Andrew has been working with Heather now for the past few months and they have made a lot of progress. Shes happy and confident, and really looking forward to getting back into competition for what will be the biggest Summer of her career'."

R3

Heather looks to have a good draw through to the semis here. She is also top seed (with American Beatrice Capra) in the doubles, but a strong Russian pair are seeded to meet them in the quarters.

yes, very unusually we have 4 in the main draw - you can see their original acceptance positions (plus the boys in qualifying) in the French Open Juniors preview thread
