On top of all the other good wins discussed today, that must be Maniel's best win for ages!
I make that 7 out of the 12 R1 matches involving Brits ending up as rankings upsets with 9 GB winners - yes, we have more than half of the players in R2, though just one definite quarter-finalist, and we could easily go 0-7 in the other matches though I hope we won't - players like Morgan and Ashley look to have chances.

And, in the limited doubles programme there were wins for:
Carpenter & Hewitt, 7-6(6) 6-4 at the expense of Egerton & Illingworth.
Barnes & Golding beat the top seeds from Spain, 6-2 6-1. ( was it cold in Newcastle today?)
Arlidge & Leahy beat the other Brits, Fitzy & Pritchard, 6-3 6-2.
Ah, you beat me to it by a matter of minutes, h! Cracking win (just the latest of a few today! ) for Barnes & Golding, but on the evidence of the web site to which Steven posted a link earlier, I, for one, won't be anywhere near even the back of the queue of hormonal teenagers (known elsewhere as "HTs"!) clamouring to join Oliver Golding's fan club!
You've past the teenage stage then SC? Didn't he feature in a TV programme about exceptional youngsters a short while ago. I didn't see it, so can't comment.
Lets cut Oliver some slack, it's only a stupid website that hasn't been updated in ages. For what it's worth when I've seen him play he was very mature and always positive on court even though he lost both matches I have seen him play.
As good a day as it has been today I can't see anyone winning apart from Cox and Phillips, but I hope someone else can spring a surprise somewhere. I'm very disapointed in Ricey's result today as that would have given us another guaranteed quarter-finalist.
It's about time Cox won a futures event or even got to a final, but with De Chaunac in his quarter it will be tough.
[...] In fairness to Olly his website hasn't been updated for 3 years.
Then maybe it's about time he (or his parents) thought about asking someone to do it. He's in danger of alienating a lot of potential supporters with the cringe-worthy, puffed-up, self-congratulatory (& that's putting it mildly!) "tone" of the current version if he doesn't...!

I think it's fair to say, especially if that site is 3 years old, that it's probably not Oliver's fault! In fact, he must be reasonably professional to have been given the role in that film and to be able to make something of his junior tennis career as well. The site is still shocking though
One other concern - although the drawsheet on the ATP site shows Bains beating Grimolozzi, the Italian is on the OoP for tomorrow ...

I see what you mean! Strangely, there's sod all on the ITF site, but the LTA's ( ) shows the same DS result (pro-Bains) & the same OoP encounter as the ATP (Grimolizzi vs McGee)... Here's hoping!
There's a (tennis) interview with him from two years ago at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjRxPKHutTI (it turns into English after about 30 seconds) - the French interviewer's valiant attempts to formulate questions in English are worth viewing the video for on their own.
