(*) Now that Stéphane Robert's streak is finally over, Blandin has the longest ongoing Brit-bashing streak.
(#) Assuming that the seeds will be too much for Ben and Ashley, Oliver will be GB's youngest world-ranked player if he wins his all-GB match, while Gabb will be the second youngest ranked Brit after James Marsalek if he wins it.

And the doubles draw (British unless stated otherwise): Round 1:
Jack Carpenter & Ashley Hewitt vs Rogan Egerton & MattIllingworth
* the above encounter is the only R1 match actually to be played; all the other teams had byes! There are no fourth seeds.
QFs:
(1) Guillermo Olaso & Carlos Poch (ESP/ESP) vs Lewis Barnes & OliverGolding (3) Niall Angus & NeilPauffley vs Nick Cavaday & BarryKing (IRL) Andrew Fitzpatrick & BenPritchard vs Burnham Arlidge & MattLeahy

Don't forget the gabb is already due to go on the rankings next monday steven! Although i can't believe the legendary steven would forget such a fact!
"Never try to write one of these posts in too much of a hurry" is a rule made to be broken, but I usually regret it! It needed dates added, didn't it LOL - put an "on 25 May" in and it all makes sense, since Richard will only be the 2nd youngest when the Newcastle points go on the system if he beats Oliver. He'll be the 3rd youngest if Oliver wins.

going to Newcastle again tomorrow matches I'm hoping to see Willis, Cox, (both courts viable from same vantage point) Hewitt and/or Arlidge v Illingworth then Milton v Fitzpatrick may not stay for that one really torn should I be home in time for Andy's match although Andy should get through this match no problem so I can see him later in the week especially as due to other commitments I wouldn't be able to get to Newcastle Thursday and Friday
then my other real dilemer is Sunday the final in Newcastle, Andy's Final, or Wimbledon think wimbledon may win out as I could set the putter up for Andy and run bettwen the two
it does! if gabb beats golding then davis will be the youngest brit, if golding beats gabb then golding will be the youngest ranked brit, with davis second youngest, marsalek third youngest and gabb fourth youngest.
and if ashley hewitt ins as well... he is 6 days older then gabb and would therefore be the 5th youngest.

excellent result for cox - what a romping
Re Ben: It does indeed - Jammy, oops I mean Ben will be the youngest ranked Brit on 18 May (4 days before his 17th birthday) unless Oliver Golding wins today. It shows the possibilities that can open up if you hang in there and give yourself a chance - if his opponent had been thrashing him (which was always a possibility), he probably wouldn't have given up, so in that sense Ben has certainly earned his point - it's now up to him to take advantage of the fact that this may get him seeded in Futures qualifying draws.
As for Cox, if that result is the right way round, that's incredible. I realise Blandin hasn't been playing his best recently and is around 200 places below his career high, but to beat, let alone hand out double bakery to a player with the longest current Brit-bashing streak and a 13-0 career record against our players (albeit players lower-ranked than the ones Robert compiled his streak against, but 13-0 is quite a record) is ... wow!
