Good to see Ward improving all the time

I can accept that Spadea may have been genuinely injured at the end, but if he's been injured from the start, I think he would pulled out a lot earlier, don't you?

Anyway, bet365 give Wardy a 56% chance of winning tonight, i.e. he's the slight favourite for the match.

Given how convincingly Ward did win, it wouldn't surprise me if Spadea was carrying some sort of injury throughout the match, but maybe he thought while he was only one break down in the second set it was still worth carrying on just in case he could do enough to get the win.

Think Ward should have a good chance tonight, although I know very little about his opponent, so can't really comment on how he plays or anything like that.

Since this result has a direct bearing on James' future in the tournament (if he overcomes JDV later):

Michael Yani has just defeated (7) Michael Russell by 7-5 6-7(5) 6-3!

They don't seem to be live scoring the Ward-DdV match?!

Yes, that's what I'm thinking. I hope it's not James. Though it wouldn't be the most satisfactory way to become the first Brit to reach a clay court Challenger semi since 2004, it would far be preferable to him getting injured or ill while on such a good run of form. I guess we'll have to wait until the end of play there to find out what really happened.

No I'm sure he wouldn't, and nor would we. smile.gif I've tried the tournament phone number but it just goes to an answerphone message that rabbits on about tickets and schedule info that's on the website anyway.

Weird:  Netpulse gives the results for the other three matches (wins for Yani, Ball & Malisse), but is showing James' match as still to be played! confuse  Even MTF is stumped! hmm

*  No Friday OoP, either!
