Bringing things back to James after all that messing about here's his full run to the Final:
QR2: (q1) James Ward WR 271 beat Roman Borvanov (MDA) WR 564 by 2 & 3 FQR: (q1) James Ward WR 271 beat Treat Conrad Huey (PHI) WR 1116 by 3 & 2
L32: (Q) James Ward WR 271 beat Michael Ryderstedt (SWE) WR 364 by 4 & 3 L16: (Q) James Ward WR 271 beat (2) Vince Spadea (USA) by 6-0 5-2 ret. QF: (Q) James Ward WR 271 beat Jonathan Dasnières de Veigy (FRA) WR 312 by 3-6 6-1 6-4 SF: (Q) James Ward WR 271 beat Michael Yani (USA) WR 249 by 6-2 3-6 7-6(5)
FI: (Q) James Ward WR 271 v (4) Carsten Ball (AUS) WR 213
Ball has a 6-7 record against Brits. The most recent matches in the series were all in Spring 2008, starting with a straight sets loss to Miles Kasiri in Lagos (POR), that infamous win by default against Kasiri in Albufeira (POR) the following week (when he reached the Final before suffering death by Machado), straight sets win against Flan in Bath, a straight sets loss to Bloomers in the semis of the same tournament and a 3-set win against Kasiri (again!) in Jersey the following week. Funnily enough, his next two matches after Jersey were both 3-set losses to a certain Michael Yani!

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
I noticed on the schedule that it says the Final (at 5 pm UK) will be televised and asked them where, not expecting it to be viewable in the UK but I know there are a couple of AM.commers who live in Florida and thought they might be able to watch it and comment afterwards. I got a quick reply which said:
"It will be televised on SNN6 and fed to affiliates throughout the country. Video of the final will be posted to our website for everyone to watch after the event has finished. We wish James the best of luck in the final."

SNN6 have got an article about the QFs on their site, mainly concentrating on Warday's opponent in the Final, but mentioning Wardy's marathon match with Chris too.
Good report for a non British paper, poor show from LTA - just imagine if it had been Jamie Muray or Jamie Baker out there! (Sorry, I forgot they treat all players the same )
and a good account of James' play.

It's great that Wardy knew about what he needed to do to get to Wimbly and actually delivered what he needed. It does look like he is skipping Kuwait though as it says he is going back to England after this.
Feb week for Wardy. Should be really pleased with himself and we are all proud of him.
The LTA's '250' cut-off seems to have worked for James as a motivation so thats good. What is typical is the complete lack of interest in reporting of this run.
I have been very busy as of late but I am intending to write a letter to Roger Draper soon and the benign reporting of GB tennis is one of the points I will be making to him. The Queens WC fiasco is another point to be made.

It is indeed so you'd better not read the Bradenton Herald article which goes with 'bottle'
http://www.bradenton.com/breakingsports/story/1445070.html(it starts "James Ward lofted the ball skyward, coiled his body and unloaded a ferocious serve. Michael Yani awaited the return. Except, the ball came whizzing, and Yani managed to just knick it with his racquet shooting the ball into the stands and ending a three-set thriller.")
Looks like the Americans have 'adopted' the Aussie as their own now that Yani has gone out.
