RE: Week 19 - Challenger (Euro 64K) - Izmir, Turkey

Uncertain if I've missed this:confuse Goody dipped out to Sergeyev in the final qualifying round, 3&4. Only Boggo flying the flag in the singles. Good job there's plenty of action in the doubles. The dynamic duo of Col & Ken aren't playing together?confuse

I did wonder, but for some reason better known to them, Skups has chosen to team up with Freddie Nielsen (who's also out of the singles qualies!).  Equally confuse ...

Arguably more heinous! shocked.gif   Wouldn't have argued with the "-iy" ending for his surname, especially as the draw sheet spells his first name "Sergiy", which I presume is the Ukrainian variation on that particular theme, but you'd typed "Stackovsky"! wink

Count - it's a Challenger, so Josh will be first in line for a LL place, Poor result today, he needs to make a note to avoid playing girls in future ...

I'll have reports from this event for the whole week. Here's only the Aucks match described but soon the others will follow... I got the 2nd round reports too but haven't read them in fact yet as I'm very busy. Maybe I'll also have the photos. Anyway you know where to go to read. Have a nice week people :)

Hope not an injury for Colin - don't see any other reason why the Flemski pertnership would break up after so much success...unless perhaps an indication Colin may be lining someone else up (Jamie?)

Was there ranking high enough to make the draw or did they have to split up? Ken has the higher ranking of the two.

Colin's website gives a much less worrying/sinister explanation:

"Didnt get into doubles, as I didnt enter with Ken so I can make sure I get to Cremona to sign in for singles qualies on Friday, so I am bunking up in Kens free room and training before going to Cremona."

See http://www.colinflemingtennis.com/colinfleming/ - very new, info-rich, still a bit of a work in progress and I believe he would welcome comments. I've put a link in the usual column near the left-hand side of the GB Top 25 table if you need to find it quickly in future. (not that the www address isn't memorable enough!)

How much is JL paying Stakh to make sure there's no chance he ends up playing Boggo and potentially making it look like it was a mistake to leave him out of the DC team? evileye

(note to lawyers: joke biggrin)

Shame that Josh couldn't qualify here - just isn't happening for him at all at the moment, and he just needs something to go his way.

Stakhovsky is doing a pretty good job on his own to ensure that he doesn't have to play Boggo - what has he ever done in his career other than the fluke run to the Zagreb title?
