£12 admission for qualifying is ridiculous to be honest - do they really suspect that the casual tennis fan is going to attend the event if they have to pay those kinds of prices?

But anyway, will definately be at this event for as much of the week as I can - can't really complain about the list given it's the week before a slam, as there are some players who will be good to see, but hopefully the Brits can have a good showing here (and someone draws Maxi Gonzalez, who is the only real clown on the surface in the draw)

Will you try to enter qualies, Dan? wink.gif Nottingham has had Byes in the qualies draw in the past, so you never know - although Eastbourne is closer to London, I suppose?

Do they charge you for entering qualies, by the way?

On a more serious note - how do we think the speeds of the courts compare to those of Wimbly and Nottingham?

£12 for a qualies pass!! in a global recession, they have to be joking right. i wonder if they will try and charge for queens then too, i bloody hope not, i always enjoyed the free saturday watching the qualies there.

Sunday is qualies and a few main draw matches so some sort of fee is justified. Saturday is qualies only though and, £12 is completely out of order as far as I'm concerned.

Having said that, I am sure most here would consider a full day watching decent tennis at a lovely seaside tennis centre to actually be money well spent.

Its still wrong though biggrin

I'm going to turn up at the time of qualifying sign-in and have a go, but I'd be surprised if I got in, as with the event in Eastbourne, there's more likely to be players turning up to have a week at the seaside than their would be if the event was in Nottingham.

I can't remember whether they charge for entering qualies - Wolf may have a better idea given he played a future this season so it would be more recent.

Not sure about the speed of the courts, but I can go and have a look at them if I want to, given that the outside courts at the moment are just a huge field of grass (although very short grass), and the secondary court you can see into - and given the lack of security around, you could probably walk on and have a match on it if you wanted to.

Karlovic not here?

STILL NOT HAPPY. I have no tennis to go to unless I want to travel hundreds of miles (well... 120-odd?) to it. And I can't go to Nottingham/Surbiton cos it clashes with my placement... DAMMIT. RUBBISH TENNIS PEOPLE MOVING TENNIS ABOUT.

Good plan, Dan. Hope you'll get to play someone really good/very promising in qualies!

^^^

Karlovic said last year that he wasn't going to play the week before Wimbledon as it was affecting his performances there (but he'll still lose in the first round, regardless of who he plays, because that it what he does at Grand Slam events)

Went down to the courts again yesterday and they seem to be starting the preparation stage as they've now painted the lines for the outside courts and are protecting them via the use of a rope to stop people getting onto them.

They charged me £10 for entering Tipton, and you won't catch me trying to enter any ATP events, there might be a crowd there!
