So thats 3 through to R2.
To come...
L32 Q1: (Q) Ben Pritchard WR 1423 v (WC) Jack Carpenter UNR L32 Q1: (Q) Nick Cavaday WR 1171 v (5) Francesco Piccari (ITA) WR 372 L32 Q2: (Q) Dan Smethurst WR 1055 v (4) Mathieu Rodrigues (FRA) WR 342 L32 Q2: Dan Cox WR 637 v Tim Goransson (SWE) WR 538 L32 Q2: Matt Illingworth WR 702 v (Q) Andrew Fitzpatrick WR 1348
Yes, shows how important the draw is (only one all-GB match in R1 last week), though that's an excellent win for Marcus and having Evo here this week should help - given the surface (actually, forget the surface), I'd rather have him leading the GB charge in a tournament than Slabba right at the moment.

I was there today Cox beat Gunnarsson 7-6 6-1 Capenter won in 3 sets cannot remember exact score! Smethurst lost in two sets after querying loads of line calls! But he has potential if he can keep calm. matches moved indoors about 3.45 pm Fitzy was 1 set up 4-4 against Illingworth. Cavaday lost first set 2-1 down in second when play abandoned outside! Womens qualifying also indoors , did not stay to watch!
Willis played really well against the Agentine player, However loads of Spaniards won today Young Golding played a blinder of a second set.
Pretty good results from a British perspective, with the exception of Milton but his loss means a first point for Gabby.
L16 Q1: (WC) Jack Carpenter UNRv (5) Francesco Piccari (ITA) WR 372
L16 Q2: (4) Mathieu Rodrigues (FRA) WR 342 v Dan Cox WR 637
L16 Q2: Matt Illingworth WR 702 or (Q) Andrew Fitzpatrick WR 1348 v (WC) Marcus Willis WR 908
L16 Q3: (3/Q) Dan Evans WR 320 v Andoni Vivanco-Guzman (ESP) WR 601 L16 Q4: (WC) Richard Gabb UNR v Nacho Coll-Riudavets (ESP) WR 469
As for their next opponents
Piccari WR 372- Finalist last week in Bournemouth, hasnt lost to anyone lowly ranked this year, outlook is pretty bleak for progress here.
Rodrigues WR 342- One of the seeds from the British expedition in Turkey a couple of weeks ago, the Frenchman wasnt having the best of starts to 2009 having failed to pass the 2nd round of any tournament until mid-March. Reached the semis in one of the events in Turkey before falling to Podlipnik in straight sets, he went on to reach another semi in France (importantly on clay) straight after, beating WR 274 Guez along the way.
Will be difficult for Coxy, but hardly impossible given hes already beaten one of the semi finalists from last week.
Vivanco WR 601- The 18 year old Spaniard is at a career high having already won a Futures event on Spanish clay in January and will rise further due to last weeks win in Bournemouth. Pretty patchy form which is understandable given his age, but having grown up on the red stuff should feel comfortable about taking on the BFG. Evo will just have to hope he turns up on one of his off days or hes tired from his exploits in the past fortnight.
Coll WR 469- Nacho is another clay-loving Spaniard. Reached the semis last week before running into Evos next opponent, Vivanco, and the previous week had won a futures event in Spain impressively without dropping a set. Should be a routine win against Gabb who will already be happy enough with the win over Milton.
Id be surprised if any of our lads can beat their foreign opposition, we might well have to settle for the Willis/Illy/Fitzy winner being the only Brit in the quarters.

Thanks scottie. Pritchard must be gutted that having got such a good draw, he lost to an unranked WC, but good performances from all of the WCs this week, which is nice to see.
Fitzy a set up, eh? I hope the move indoors doesn't work against him, I can imagine it might.
