Great reward for Pritchard getting Carpenter the WC.
Just out of curiosity, when you called me re the LL order rule, were you trying to stop the officials doing it wrong or trying to advise a player how likely they were to get a LL slot?
Thanks for all the updates and the reports, they're hugely appreciated and not just by us. I metnioned that you were doing them on AM.com and MTF and this thread has had over 1500 hits today, which even with some people hitting refresh at lot suggests the number checking the updates at least once might have been in three figures.

Good to see him keeping his hand in.
Perhaps that's why the LTA drawsheet has Ben winning in three straight sets 7-6(0) 6-3 6-3 ... (corrected above)

I see (Q) Kuku and (LL) Mugabe have been drawn against each other in R1 with the winner likely to play (1) Alcaide WR 297. The rest of the top quarter is all Brits apart from the other seed in it, who is the much higher-ranked brother of the guy who beat Niall Angus easily today - oops!
L32 Q1: (Q) Ben Pritchard WR 1423 v (WC) Jack Carpenter UNR L32 Q1: (Q) Nick Cavaday WR 1171 v (5) Francesco Piccari (ITA) WR 372 L32 Q2: (Q) Dan Smethurst WR 1055 v (4) Mathieu Rodrigues (FRA) WR 342 L32 Q2: Dan Cox WR 637 v Tim Goransson (SWE) WR 538 L32 Q2: Matt Illingworth WR 702 v (Q) Andrew Fitzpatrick WR 1348 L32 Q2: (WC) Marcus Willis WR 908 v (8) Gaston-Arturo Grimolizzi (ARG) WR 489 L32 Q3: (WC) Oliver Golding UNR v Agustin Boje-Ordonez (ESP) WR 626 (winner likely to play (7) Grassi WR 448) L32 Q3: Burnham Arlidge WR 842 v Andoni Vivanco-Guzman (ESP) WR 601 L32 Q3: (3/Q) Dan Evans WR 320 v (Q) James Marsalek WR 1549 L32 Q4: Josh Milton WR 703 v (WC) Richard Gabb UNR - winner likely to play (6) Jeanclaude WR 381 or Nacho Coll WR 469) L32 Q4: (LL) Kyle Brassington WR 1253 v Grégoire Burquier (FRA) WR 568 - winner likely to play (2) Olaso WR 315
A pity none of the Brits managed to draw Golding. We have four definites in R2 but it's hard to see a Brit suriving any of the other matches and hard to see anyone but Evo getting to the QFs and even he might find it tough.
Btw, when I said that the Brits did better in Edinburgh than Bournemouth last year, I was thrown by the numbering of the Futures having changed due to two of the Q1 Futures being dropped this year. In fact:
2008 Bournemouth 15K
(7) Wardy, Evo & Thornley reached the QFs Meatball, Smethurst, Illingworth, Milton & Cox all reached R2
Total points : 14
2009 Bournemouth 10K
(1) Slabba & Dr No reached R2
Total points : 2
I think it was probably a good idea to revert the clay court Futures back to being 10Ks this year (adding Newcastle next week as well) in an attempt to weaken the draw, but sadly it seems to only have weakened the Brits in the draws!
2008 Edinburgh 15K
Evo & (6) Wardy reached the QFs (1) Bloomers, Cox, (8) Kasiri & T Hewitt all reached R2
Total points : 10

The issue with the LL spot was that Mills wasnt sure ! kyle was and the other event staff were...i put our thoughts over...call to the Itf made certain. Mills does this event most years...he is used to ATP masters not futures i suppose.
That's a classic though it can't be easy with the LL rules for ATP and ITF events being different and even the ITF rules varying between slams and Futures.
What was the other option he was thinking of? If he thought slam rules applied, that could have helped Kyle's chances (by keeping Pauffley and Regus out of the equation) rather than helped them. If he thought ATP rules applied (which would have cut Kyle out), that would be a bit shocking. Glad I was able to (sort of) help anyway.

Argg 5-5 ' i hate this fu***** country ' quote from the georgian. He has been throwing his raquet all over the place and with no umpire he gets away with it.
So why do so many johnny foreigners bother coming over here. I assume its for easier points but surely they can do as well elsewhere (and a lot warmer!) The top 2 spanish seeds would have been seeded in the comp in their own country this week?
Another naive question if someone doesnt mind educating me.....but wild cards for this week in edinburgh. Are they explained/justified anywhere?
It's not anything like hatred for Britain or British weather or anything - probably just frustration. Lazare previously trained at Queen's and was trying for British citizenship and then trained in Ireland (maybe still does, no clue) and was seeking an Irish citizenship.
The guy seemed to be very friendly and well known to the GB guys...indeed it was Cavady that loaned him his raquet in the final stages when he broke another string (by bouncing it off the ground/fence). He was almost timed out by Mills for leaving the court !
Impressive from Gabb / a bit of a shocker for Milton. I didn't think Oliver would get anywhere near that close - what on earth happened in the 2nd set!
