RE: Week 18 Futures - Great Britain F6 ($10K) - Edinburgh

Why did Cox get a WC when he was on the entry list?!?!?

Disappointing result for Nikki

I assume he wasn't a DA when the WCs were first announced - though "announced" is perhaps not the right word for this top secret process!

Evo may also have wanted a couple of matches practising on the surface before the main draw, come to think of.

EVANS vs x
nial angus vs piccardi
smethurst s x
pritchard vs x
cavaday vs pauffley
fitzpatrick vs bains

thats a shocking attempt i really cant remember. marselek vs brassington i think, gabb in qualis?
im not sure i didnt see gabb, carpinter playing.

i do know that broady won his first match playing well, and was on serve in first set with his second.

knightsy is playing x, sorry but i dont have a copy of the draw to help you out!

my scores were 3-6 6-1 7-6 (10-8)

Nothing like taking it to the wire Fitzy.

Sounds like a good game to watch.

Good luck in the final round vs. Bains.

Feel free to text from now on if that'seasier, Drew (though having you post the scores direct on here is even better, but I'm assuming it's not that easy)

Any chance you can shame them into putting the Q draw up somewhere so we know what's coming? (and what happened on Sunday)

Evo-Hewitt 2-2*

Tim seems to have made his comeback here with a vengeance if he's pushing Evo that close.

Edit: not Tim, Ashley, so even more of a surprise, though it looks fro mthe probably score below like evo just took his time waking up.

Evo breaks *3-2 - it's very windy there apparently.

Just had Drew on the phone, sounds like it's blowing a howling gale there which must make playing tennis fun and watching it freezing! TS have been having computer problems but the LTA may have got a connection, so we'll see if a draw appears soon. Drew has given me the FQR draw though, which is the most important thing.

Important - all results up to now are subject to correction, I think any that he gives me later should be ok. Rankings are 4 May rankings, since without a drawsheet they're now easier to find!

FQR: (q1/WC) Dan Evans WR 320 beat Ashley Hewitt UNR by 2-6(?) 6-2(?) 6-2/3? smilecry
FQR: Thomas Knights UNR v (q2) Lazare Kukhalashvili (GEO) WR 891
FQR: Ben Pritchard WR 1423 v (q3) Duncan Mugabe (UGA) WR 907
FQR: Niall Angus WR 1900 lost to (q4) Alessandro Piccari (ITA) WR 930 in straights cry
FQR: (q5) Dan Smethurst WR 1055 leads Ralph Regus (GER) WR 1768 by a set and *5-4
FQR: (q6) Maniel Bains WR 1071 v Andrew Fitzpatrick WR 1348
FQR: (q7) Nick Cavaday WR 1171 trails Neil Pauffley WR 1370 by a set and 3-4
FQR: (q8) Kyle Brassington WR 1253 v James Marsalek WR 1549

Evo?!?!?! He wants to give us a heart attack, doesn't he?

Broady did lose in QR2 then, shame that Marselek and Brassington have to play each other.

Glad Evo won his match, but it's a bit worrying that he lost a set to an unranked player (no offence to Hewitt). Is clay not Dan's favourite surface, or was he just having an off moment?

Best of luck to the others who are still to play today.

I think Evo probably just had trouble waking up and getting used to the gale, which must make things more of a lottery than usual.

Cavaday-Pauffley : 1 set all, Pauffley 4-1 up in the 3rd
Smethurst-Regus : 1 set all (doh! - unless it was really 5-4* instead of *5-4 ...)
