It also has to be a cost thing ,grass courts are far to expensive to keep when only playable for such a short season due to weather and wear and tear on the surface.
Not the greatest week for the Brits again, and it seems that these clay court futures just aren't working out for the British players at all - well done to those who got their first point though, and to Willis for getting to the quarter finals, and to Fitzy for getting another point.
It does seem that the increase in points this week was due to more Brits drawing each other, but if it does give more British player points, then fix the draw in Newcastle to make sure all the British players draw each other.
Pleased for the boys in the doubles. I know we were bound to have one pair of finalists, but both pairs is a bonus. Got to be Brit thank goodness. Now will Gabb & Hewitt avenge their defeat of last week or will Dan S end up on the winning side again?
That must have been a match worth watching, by the looks it could have gone either way. This Gabbitt combo making two finals in as many weeks. Marcus proving to be the best Brit in this tournament. I hope he can build on this and continue to make improvements in his ranking. Should make for an interesting Futures in Newkie. Are you going Mad?
SC - you made the same mistake as I did earlier in the week - it's Ashley Hewitt, not Tim, who hasn't been seen in a Future for quite a while.
Oops! My fault - sort of: I simply copied & pasted the result from the Beeb site (just checked: it still says "Tim"! ). I edited it slightly, taking out the references to nationality & shortening "Daniel" to "Dan", but didn't bother to update my draw sheet first, or I might have spotted the booboo. The DS, of course, has the right Hewitt!

It doesn't say much for us, does it, that our accuracy is on a level with that of the BBC. I've never been so embarrassed! (though I did correct my version within seconds, so not quite as bad )
Actually, it's quite impressive that whoever did the scores for the BBC actually knows that there was a player called Tim Hewitt! They might actually be a tennis fan.

You're not wrong there - & I proceeded to compound the error by failing to edit the initial offending post! Didn't dawn on me until after I'd logged off that I should've amended it there & then! Have put it right now, though.
