L32: (Q) Chris Eaton WR 374 beat Rajeev Ram (USA) WR 167 by 5 & 3
For me, that's Chris's best result since Wimby, in fact probably even more impressive than the win against Pashanski.
The drawsheet says 6 points for R2, but I'm sure it's 8 in a 100K, which means 13 points so far this week for Chris, equivalent to a 50K Challenger QF, and a new career high for sure.

Best win of his career. If you've seen Pashanski on grass, you wouldn't argue.
Also, can i wade into the Dimitrov debate. Whilst i hate the ridiculous number of wildcards he's been given, to say that just because he wastes them that he has no talent is piffle. I saw his match against Nadal in Rotterdam, he easily looked a future top 5 player - how many players in general take sets off Nadal?
Grigor gets wild cards because tournament directors care about nothing other than money and just want publicity. Grigor's team is using the 15 minutes of fame he got from the performances at Rotterdam and Marseille to fool as many tournament directors as possible.
Yeah, he has the talent to be top 5 but it'll not be remotely shocking if he becomes Donald Young II.

I agree re Pashanski - I thought his best win ever was the one against Patience (WR 162 at the time) in the Wimby FQR - this win has to be close to that.
A pity it's taken him 10 months to start building on his Wimby run, but if this week proves not to b a one-off, the Wimby run won't be in vain.
It strikes me that his best plan would be to keep going for Challengers that attract a bit of a crowd - this is probably Israel' biggest men's event this year.

And why shouldn't his team milk all the opportunities they can while he's 'hot property' - wouldn't anyone?
There is also a chance he could be the next Andy Murray - I'm pretty sure no-one was complaining when Andy was getting all his WCs.
He's already won several futures events, so the logical step is to see if he can jump straight up to challenger level using these wild cards while he can. If he can't develop consistency at this level and keeps losing in the first round, those idiot tournament directors will soon stop offering the WCs and the next bright young thing will come along.
Andy didn't get anywhere near the wild cards Dimitrov is getting. If you don't think someone getting 15 wild cards a year outside his own country is obscene, I cannot say anything.
woohoo- great result - thx for all the updates. i suppose chris needs to get some decent ranking points quick before that ton disappears and plummets him back down the rankings.

It's definitely his best win on hardcourts, the best before this was when he beat Amritaj 7-6 6-1 in India last year, maybe the Nielsen one also

The bottom half of the draw is really starting to open up: Benedikt Dorsch (GER) has taken out Nicolas Mahut (3) by the same score as Chris vs Ram (5 & 3) & a fellow qualifier, Sebastian Rieschick (also GER), has just done for Bobby Reynolds (3) by 7-6(3) 7-6(4)! We just need our old Turkish friend, Marsel Ilhan, to see off Thiago Alves (BRA/5) - it's 3-3* in the third at the moment - & there'll only be one seed left, Chris' likely R2 opponent, Lu! The Germans are looking dangerous...
Impressive win from Chris. His half of the draw is opening up nicely if he can get past Lu, I'm assuming he'll win. Two seeds have just got the KO, Reynolds(3) lost to Rieschick 7-6(3) 7-6(4) & Mahut (7) to Dorsch 7-5 6-3.
