If I was Georgie I would probably just go for qualies too to be honest, but I guess the paycheque is a temptation.
Georgie has little experience against Top 100 players, or in Tour Main Draws. She's exactly the type of player who should be getting WCs into the WImbledon MD IMO.
I guess, but is she ready for that? Whilst there are clearly merits to testing oneself against higher opposition, it seems to me that if you can't beat 3 players ranked near you before doing so there isn't a hell of a lot of point. In other words, she'll get that experience when she earns it. It's like all the British girls who enter 25ks and 50ks when they've not really done much in 10ks; that's why I think Naomi B's run on the clay 10ks is so impressive, because it shows a recognition that you can't build a career on a few lucky breaks. I take your point, but I think at this stage in her career the need for points and progress against similar ranked players (whom she hasn't beaten thus far on grass) overrides the need to get beaten by a seed in round one.
Eight names were put forward by the LTA, all guaranteed a MDWC or QWC if fit. Only 7 have been announced. That means Em needs to prove her fitness, so still has a chance of making it. If Em were unfit the next highest ranked (Anna Smith) would have been put forward - but she is in the Qualifying Wild Card play-off.

There are eight wild cards if you include Laura. They haven't just chosen them by ranking order, Dan Cox recieved a qualies wild card even though Fleming and Marray were ranked ahead of him.
Doubles WC's are (I assume Keothavong & Borwell are a DA) Baltacha/Elliot Curtis/Smith Robson/Stoop
Just thinking about what a single qualies win and 40 points might mean for the girls - for Joss it'd take her from around 650 to 450; for Tara from around 490 to 390; for Elliott from around 420 to 340; for Jade from 340 to 280; for Naomi B from 360 to 295 and for Naomi C from around 300 to 260. Of course those are very very rough estimates based on current points, but that shows how big the gains could be here for the girls - 8 GB girls in the top 300 after Wimbledon is not at all out of the question, and we'd all expect Naomi C to do better than that. Exciting times!
