can we delete this thread to help us all forget this tournament please :D
Don't say that! There's hope for the Brits yet - at least in the semi-finals of the doubles :
O'Brien & Smethurst (4) had a walkover against Bains & Rice for some reason & will face the Spanish top seeds, Boje & Coll, while the conquerors of the second seeds, the Brit WCs, Gabb & Hewitt, today saw off Regus & von Massow by 6-3 5-7 [11-9] (phew!). They face the Italian third seeds, Damiano di Ienno & Claudio Grassi, in the SF.

Bains & Rice probably didn't want a pasting from the 4th seeds. Only joking but hope neither of them is injured. Gabb & Hewitt for the final? Those guys are on a roll. Would be good to think there'd be a Brit representative contesting a home final.
I can't believe nobody's bothered to report the very British (OK, 25% Irish) coup that took place in the doubles semi-finals in Bournemouth earlier today (says a lot about the status of doubles in most people's minds, I suppose ):
(4) Colin O'Brien & Dan Smethurst beat (1) Agustín Boje & Ignacio Coll (ESP/ESP) 6-4 4-6 [10-6]
WC Richard Gabb & Ashley Hewitt beat (3) Damiano di Ieno & Claudio Grassi (ITA/ITA) 6-4 6-1
Well done, chaps! A guaranteed Brit interest in the title!
