The second Nottingham tournament sees our leading 1995 girl, Katy Dunne, make her ITF debut. Alex Walker is the third seed, playing her first tournament for 2 months. Unfortunately 2 of our best hopes for a good run here, Daneika Borthwick and Joanna Henderson, are scheduled to meet in round 3.
Katy made an impressive start to her ITF career, dropping just 4 games, and we are guaranteed a semi-finalist now from the third quarter. All R1 results viewable from the above link.
.....Very interesting Katy Dunne winning 2-6 7-6(10) 6-2 Her dubious reward is a match against a player with one of the longest names in women's tennis, who beat Alex in Tunisia earlier in the year. Hannah Martin-Merchant continued her miserable form, losing surprisingly to wildcard Emily Crowe, whilst Jo Henderson won the big clash against Daneika Borthwick surprisingly easily (6-0 6-3). Unfortunately for Jo she is up next against arguably the star player here, an American whose scalps include top tenner Kristina Mladenovic at the Yucutan Cup (won by Heather Watson) last year.

Some encouraging performances there, with Fran and Jo pushing the top seeds, whilst Katy continues her remarkable debut with two SFs here and Caitlin makes it 2 SFs in only 3 tournaments at this level :
