Gifu, in Japan, where she's likely to be the top seed. Great to see her in such good form, I was expecting it to be much closer today.

Elana now has three 50K events on carpet. If she could win one of them, plus a few points from the other two, she should become a direct entrant to Wimbledon. I am not sure when the cut off is though, does she have the time?

50K points go on the rankings immediately, so if the cut-off is 6 weeks before as it is for the men, then I think the points from the first two of the three 50K events will count. She's got 14 points coming off on 11 May which will be replaced by 2, so her total points by the cut-off date will be 496 plus whatever she scores in the next two weeks.

The current no. 100 has 633 points and WR 110 has 580. 50K points are 70 for a win, 50 for RU, 32 for semis.

Wimbledon could be interesting with Anne definitely in the main draw, Mel on the brink of getting in, Katie as top seed in Johannesburgh $100K+H and Bally on a possible winning run in Japan. We could have more than one girl in the main draw as of right.

Well done Bally. Great to see her winning this tournament. If only she could stay injury/illness free.

Great stuff. Good to see her back to winning ways after more injury woes this year.

I hope she can keep getting big points and makes the wimbledon cut-off for the MD.
