In the semis (at 17.00 BST tomorrow), they will meet de Heart/Kuznetsov or (WC) Mirzadeah/Sykut - the WCs beat no. 2 seeds Ball & Martin by the odd-looking score of 6-2 0-6 10:7 in R1.
Mirzadeh & Sykut are obviously real battlers, as they made de Heart & Kuznetsov work for their victory: 3-6 7-6(3) [10-7]!
I second helki's remark about the doubles boys keeping things interesting for us in the latter half of a week in which the singles players have yet again largely failed miserably. Heart-warming win for Col & Ken. Fingers crossed that they can keep going all the way to that title!
What a great achievement. I didn't expect them to get this far but nowt seems to be impossible for the CK combo. Wonder if it'll be Booty & pal in the final?
Here are the approximate ranking changes if they lose the final: Skupski 189 -> 176 Fleming 243 -> 221
And if they win: Skupski 189 -> 167 Fleming 243 -> 206
i didn't take into account other people's movements...my name's not Steven after all!
Great news this, but think it might be the final nail in the coffin for Ken's single career. This is taking Ken upto a new level and means a doubles career is more attainable than in singles.
