Wear it with pride, people, wear it with pride!
I personally think he should be made to qualify. Just my personal opinion but if he gets "stuck" in qualies then it means he has to prove himself! That's a way to get players to boost themselves with adrenaline! Or perhaps just me?
This is the further LTA reply received from Paul Hutchins:- (I might not agree with the way they operate but I am impressed with their communications.)
We are, in co-operation with Wimbledon, running a 16 player pre qualifying for 2 wild card places into Wimbledon qualifying which seems to work well with also the top 8 players on the ranking lists getting either a direct wild card into the main draw if under 250 on the rankings or into qualifying.
Often different opinions on play offs and equally strong opinions if we give too many players with low rankings wild cards without having to work that hard for the spot. We are also totally dependent on the All England Club committee views as well as they hold the final decision on all wild cards.
The cut for the main draw is around 100 and we/All England Club are offering places in main draw if under 250 and in Wimbledon qualifying to players of 500 and below and for pre qualifying 1000 and below and some with no world ranking. We always review the system and take opinions into consideration but this is the 2009 system which will operate.
Fair response from Hutchins - at least it's a clear policy, with no scope for favouritism, although you could argue that the whole point of wild cards is that they're discretional. Would expect Boggo to get a main draw WC on the basis of this.
Wow, so Boggo will get a wild card and Evans probably will not. Whoever thought of this poilcy is so brilliant - it would have denied Murray an opportunity to play at Wimbly in 2005.
Josh seems certain to get a WC, he doesn't have enough points to lose to fall out of the top 250. The AE club will almost certainly see sense and give Evo one, whie Boggo, Ward and Eaton are the touch-and-go. If i was to make a guess i would say;
so if i am reading it right it means under 250 and your in the MD? under 500 and you get qualies WC, and 500+ they will host a pre-qualifying play-off for qualies WCs. with the possibility of aeltc making some changes too. if the lta offered alex a WC, i cant see the aeltc taking it away, more likely they will give to people the lta wouldn't, going by the above criteria.
